Oh, littlest nephew of mine! His smile gets me every single time. Even when he’s testing out a little defiance, as soon as he smiles, you forget that he just shouted, “NO!” when you asked him to sit down to put his shoes on. He just turned 2-years-old. He’s talking (apparently, “so awkward,” is a new favorite phrase), he’s running, he’s chomping on almost anything you put in front of him (chickpeas, anyone?) and he’s working his charm every chance he gets. Alyssa and Adam have been nurturing his curiosity at each turn, trying to balance his drive for independence while ensuring safety, and loving every new word and feat he tackles.
Little S – you had my heart since your first breathing minute. I guess you can keep it for a little while longer, at least. May your days continue to be full of wonder and perhaps, maybe, you know, just say, “sure, mom!” every once in a while.
