Newborn session (Kristin, Ben, E, & S) – South Boston, MA

A giant, mechanical, Halloween-inspired spider hung from their second story window. One little trick-or-treater inside had just been promoted to big sister. And while he was too young to appreciate the festivities, baby brother, S, had his matching elephant costume all set aside for the big night. After we got some family photos of them all together and some of the sweet baby, we went outside for some fresh air and a good ol’ game of hopscotch.

Kristin and Ben, thanks so much for sharing your morning. Many wishes for some good sleep (for all), lots of snuggles, and genuine giggles!

Family portrait session (Lara, James, & D) – Newton, MA

What is it about jumping off of big rocks as a kid? (And why, as adults, do we stop looking for those fun little joys?) Almost any kid I know will seek out, climb atop, survey the drop, and then, if said drop looks safe enough, will jump to the ground with a giant smile. This little guy was no different. Having never been to this particular park before, we all felt like true explorers and even referred to a map a few times. We checked out the now-withered garden area, walked along narrow paths, and found the small river. And he tested out his parents’ arms – they may be nearing the end of the time when they are able to swing him while holding their hands.

Lara and James, I’m so glad the weather held out for our session in the park! I can’t believe how big he is getting. May he always land safely when jumping from the big rocks!

Family portrait session (Tom, Michelle, & N) – Acton, MA

Michelle and Tom’s new house is a bit different than what Michelle is used to: a super-tall apartment building in Japan. Here, surrounded by lots of trees with the nearest neighbor barely within sight of their front door, she’s getting used to the quiet – and the wildlife. Tom has reassuringly named the two foxes they’ve seen to make them a bit less frightening, and she chuckles in delight as he retells the story. Little N seems to be reveling in the long driveway and big back yard, taking to his balance bike like a pro and making his way around the swingset like it’s always been there.

Tom and Michelle, thanks so much for having me; it was so nice seeing you all again and doing so well in your lovely home. I loved watching the focus on N’s face as he did his loops on his bike and how proud he was to lift the pumpkin all by himself!

Family portrait session (Laura, Mike, O, & O) – Hampton Falls, NH

With a new house and a move next door to their grandmother, these kids have a lot to celebrate. Little miss was a little chilly so after we got some portraits of their beautiful faces, we switched into play mode and they got to swing, run around, and drive. Yes, you read that right, drive. Each of them has their own little car, suited perfectly to their personalities. And when her little car ran out of gas, ahem, I mean, battery power, big brother stepped up and pushed her along so she could go a little further.

Laura and Mike, thanks so much for having me. Your kids are awesome and in standard fashion, you kept the laughs coming. All the best to you in your lovely new home!

Family portrait session (Christina, Matt, T, & E) – Belmont, MA

The morning was full of mist, but that didn’t stop big sister from finding the colorful leaves on the ground. The leaves were also an attraction for little sister, though she contemplated eating them more than her older counterpart. We found some puddles, walked around, and explored the little brook running through the park. T had fun trying to follow the leaves that she had tossed into the water, watching with excitement as they floated away out of sight. Little sister, E, has one of the most expressive smiles I’ve ever seen – smiling so much that her eyes almost disappear entirely.

Thanks, Christina and Matt, for having me again! It was great to see how much T had changed since our first shoot a few years ago and just heartwarming to see the sisterhood bond between the two of them!
