Trimming the tree documentary session (Rebecca, Owen, H, & M) – Southborough, MA

The Christmas music was playing, the tree was standing there twinkling, ready to be decorated, and the kids were chomping at the bit. Big brother was excited to rediscover the ornament treasures he remembered from years past: the one with his handprint when he was a baby, the one he made in kindergarten. Little brother, in that loving little-brother-way, insisted that his R2-D2 nestle *right* next to the BB-8 belonging to his big brother. Afterwards, they celebrated with a little hot chocolate and marshmallows (maybe more marshmallows than hot chocolate). Oh, and a little bit of whipped cream…right…down…the…hatch! The afternoon was topped off with a little piano serenade and some fun family photos.

Rebecca and Owen – I LOVED photographing this moment for you all. It will change, year to year: who puts the star on top, who finds that ornament from that certain trip, the photo ornaments of loved ones as they look younger and younger in the images, and the stories told of the one(s) that were broken and glued back together. I’m thrilled that you have these images that will take you back to this time and space, year after year.

Family portrait session (Maura, Sean, K, & M) – Wakefield, MA

These two girls melt my heart. Everything about them – their energy, their sisterhood bond, their giggles, and the joy on their faces when they run – makes my heart sing. The younger sister and my little one have been in the same class for two straight years. The two of them have formed a precious little friendship and through that, we’ve gotten to know the entire family and they are just downright fun and kind and wonderful. So when they asked for a photo session, I couldn’t have felt more honored.

Maura and Sean, thank you, thank you so very much for trusting me to capture your beautiful girls at this fun stage!

Family portrait session (Tara, Joe, C, R, & A) – Lincoln, MA

When an early snowfall turns a “fall session” into a winter scene, you let the kids do their thing and enjoy it. Joe definitely took the brunt of the action, smiling as each snowball, er, more like, snow-cluster, was thrown at him, even when all three of the kids attacked at the same time. And Tara took her fair share, too, especially the one to the back while she wasn’t even looking! The twins gave some sweet snuggles along the way while big sister just wanted to keep exploring, balance along the rocks, and keep throwing snowballs.

Tara and Joe, it was so great to see you and the girls again! Thanks for being so chill with the snow and said snowballs (see what I did there?).

Family portrait session (Shilpa, Jim, E, & A) – Lincoln, MA

Running, playing, throwing leaves, and doing an arabesque every now and then for good measure is how these girls roll. The morning was quite chilly but they took it in stride and seemed to have fun exploring the area despite the weather. It was so nice to see you all again, Jim and Shilpa!

Family portrait session (Rachel, Drew, A, & C) – Wellesley, MA

Hearts have been a bit heavy for this darling family since they lost their beloved dog, Grizzly, just a couple of weeks before the session. So they decided to stay home and keep things simple and let their love shine through in their beautiful home and hearts. Little C has one of the most serious baby faces I’ve ever seen, amazingly alert and seeming genuinely curious about every little thing going on around her. Big brother A is as cute as a button and has grown into his role, setting such a great example for his little sister all the while having fun with the most precious little grin on his face.

Rachel and Drew, I certainly missed your fur baby (he may be my favorite dog to photograph to date!) and will forever remember him and baby A together on your bed years ago. Thank you for always being so warm, welcoming, and chill – and for continuing to trust me to capture your changing family through the years. I treasure our sessions!
