Newborn session (Alyssa, Adam, & baby S) – Newburyport, MA

So, just a few weeks ago I fell in love again. Didn’t think it was possible, but my newest nephew made my heart swoon. If you’ve been following along, you know that my baby sister, Alyssa and her husband, Adam, were expecting their first child this year. I had the most awesome privilege of photographing my sister’s labor and delivery of their son (which I just got around to blogging yesterday). Fast forward to two weeks later, after the blur of childbirth had subsided, my sister asked for some newborn images – be still my heart. Granted, I am 100% completely biased, but he is one of the most adorable babies I’ve ever seen. Check out the head of hair! Beyond his good looks, he has these amazing parents who are doing a bang up job.

I can’t wait to see what you will bring to the world, sweet S. Your cousins, your uncle, and I love you already. Welcome, little one. Our side of the family may be a little overwhelming at times, but we’ve got so much love. So much.

A birth story (Alyssa & Adam) – Newburyport, MA

I don’t even know where to begin. Do I tell you about how amazing my baby sister was? Do I tell you about how supportive my brother-in-law was? Do I tell you how honored I was to be able to witness the birth of my nephew? I could go on and on, honestly, and I would be gushing about it all. In short, my baby sister opted for no epidural (!) and went purely with nitrous oxide (hence the mask-thingy) throughout all 18 hours of labor. Can you say rock star? Adam never left her side (save for a tiny cat nap) and talked her down after each contraction. After all of that, a beautiful, nearly 9-pound baby boy was born, head FULL of hair. All of a sudden, there was more love in the world. Should you have a couple of minutes to catch a glimpse of the G-rated version of events, please check it out.

This is something I will *never* forget. While I have given birth two times before, having the wherewithal to take it in is a completely different story. Alyssa and Adam, thank you a million times over for trusting me to be there with you, camera in hand, to document the start of this new chapter. It may be the most challenging and most rewarding thing you’ll ever do.

Extended family session – South Boston, MA

In a year where we’ve seen extreme drought in our area, the past few weekends have handed us some rain which has really thrown a wrench into some outdoor sessions. This extended family session decided to forge ahead with an indoor session since one set of grandparents were in from out of town; we made the best of it! This little boy is clearly so loved. He gave high-fives to all, built (and knocked down) a block tower, showed off his belly, and kissed the belly that holds his new sibling-to-be. We managed to get outside for a few minutes where he proceeded to be completely taken with the rain and the gutter. So cute!

Thanks to all of you for a cozy morning. (As a complete aside, this session took place just *doors* away from where my husband and I lived before making the move to the ‘burbs – fun to see the street again!)

Family portrait session – Winchester, MA

Chickens, goats, and a plethora of watering cans. What more could you ask for?  Sweet baby J has grown quite a bit since his newborn shoot this past spring, and big brother J seems like he’s grown 5 inches in 6 months. My favorite moment? We found a tree stump that seemed like it was carved for the sole purpose of playing peek-a-book. I’m not sure who was having more fun – the baby or the big brother. Their reactions to each other were remarkable – each enjoying the others’ laughter more than their own.

Suzanna and Nick, thanks again for allowing me to document these cutie-pie faces. They warm my heart.

Newborn session – Lexington, MA

Her heart seems like it’s about to explode. They have twin first-graders, a preschooler, and a newborn. Her hands are full; her heart is overflowing. That’s how happy this mom is. She is exhausted yet beaming; dad is tired yet smiling. The kids are running and playing and smiling and swinging… And kissing and marveling at their new baby sister.

I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family ever since the twins were 18-months old. I couldn’t feel more humbled that they continue to trust me to capture some of their most important milestones. Thank you, T & E. May you enjoy the minutes of peace and roll with the chaos!
