A mom and her girls (Rainelle, C, & N) – North Reading, MA

Nothing like a last minute shoot with my favorite two nieces to cap off a whirlwind week! Their smiles helped me to get out of my health-mishap funk (severe hives, anyone?) and I was able to bring along my two girls as “helpers” which was fun, too. My two nieces are beautiful each in her own way and I love to be able to try to capture their sassy and spunky personalities through my lens, the way I see them, the way I know them. And my sister got in on some of the action, too, which is always awesome. We will be sure to get Doug in there next time!

I’ve added a new favorite of my girls with their cousins at the end. Please excuse the PJs on my older one – it was PJ day at school (when do parents get one of those, by the way?).

Extended family portrait session – North Reading, MA

A rainy Saturday didn’t stop this group from gathering and taking time to appreciate the relationships that exist within and around this family. Of particular note, each set of grandparents on both side of the family apparently get along famously – so much so that they even vacation together – without their kids/grandkids! Did you follow that? Laura and Kevin, the parents of the two handsome boys, each have a set of parents: Jim and Ruth (Laura’s parents) and Ken and Mary Ellen (Kevin’s parents). THEY go away together. I love it! How lucky are these two boys to have such a tight night family. They were joined on this day by Kevin’s sister, Liz, who benefited from the sweet “double-smooch” from her nephews. Once the portrait portion of the session was complete, the boys sat down with one of their grandmother’s for a story. You could totally tell that the grandmother had been a preschool teacher and a librarian – she was totally in her element!

Laura and Kevin, thanks again for having me! I loved seeing the photos from our last session displayed in your new beautiful home.

Family portrait session (Kathy, Matt, & C) – Gloucester, MA

Whenever I see her in the neighborhood, there are usually about 10 other kids around and her little voice is drowned out by the buzz of the older kids. Here, at the beach, she could make her voice be heard. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a “sand angel” being made. Her imagination led her to put sand “in the microwave” to heat it up for her pretend friends. She barely stopped long enough to feel the water, but once she did, there was no turning back. Little C, I loved getting the chance to hear your voice and see your beautiful spirit. Can’t wait to see your little personality grow even more in the coming years with all the littles in our ‘hood. Kathy and Matt, thank you for a fun session with your firecracker!

Family portrait session (Robin, Tim, & L) – South Boston, MA

Oh, man. There’s something so magical about a baby’s first steps. While I’m sure baby L had taken a few steps before our shoot, he’s still at the point where he can do just a few at a time – you know that phase when they can ping pong between mom and dad. And the pure joy on his face – and that of his parents’ – was just awesome to watch. Along with his almost-walking legs, he showed off his fist-bumping skills and his ridiculously cheeky smile. We also got a chance to get some photos of him with his super sweet nanny.

Robin and Tim, you have an adorable little boy there. Thank you so much for a fun session in your corner of the city.

Family portrait session (Alfa, David, A, & P) – Lynn, MA

Mark my words, this kid is going to go pro. At just 4-years-old, he can shoot hoops better than I can (though that may not say much considering my limited athletic abilities). But seriously, he’s got skills. And his little sister seems completely entertained and enamored with him. This little nugget couldn’t stop smiling and the look of wonder in her eyes made my heart melt. She was as sweet as can be. These two are keeping their parents on their toes as they test out their ever-developing skills – between climbing and jumping off of rocks, to near-crawling and eating the grass, they have their work cut out for them!

Alfa and David, thanks so much for the opportunity to meet you and your fun little kiddos.
