Senior photos (Ryan) – Concord, MA

The beginning of the last year in high school is a time to ready oneself for change, for both the child and the parent. It’s a year with a lot of “lasts” paired with looking ahead to a lot of “firsts.” When Karen emailed me about getting senior photos done for her oldest son, Ryan, I could almost feel the bittersweet emotion in her voice. It was a tone marked a deep love for her son tied to admitted disbelief that the time had gone so fast. One thing is for certain: after meeting Ryan and his brother, Alex, it was easy to tell that Karen and her husband, Al, have done all they can to raise them both to have a good head on their shoulders so they can go out into the wide world on their own. As Ryan takes his first steps in venturing out on his own, remember to keep breathing and know that you have done a good job!

Ryan, wishing you so much success in your classes and on the track/cross country in your final year of high school. Oh, and remember to call your mom and dad every once in a while next year.

Senior portraits (Hannah) – Newcastle, NH

Her smile was genuine and contagious, her down-to-earth spirit was refreshing, and she has the whole world in front of her. Hannah is entering her senior year of high school and posses both poise and a good nature. She’s kept busy this summer with competitive swimming and hanging out with friends and family. Last year, I had the privilege of photographing her boyfriend, Josh, for his senior photos. This year, Josh accompanied Hannah for her senior session and we were able to capture the two of them together. These two couldn’t have been sweeter together! Off-camera, Josh provided some comic relief for Hannah, and together, well… you should just see for yourself.

Hannah, as you enter your final year of high school, I wish you lots of swimming success as well as the chance to create fond memories! And to your parents, who I didn’t have the chance to meet, congratulations on raising a beautiful soul.

Senior Portraits (Andrew) – Hampton, NH

Ever since he was little, Andrew has had musical talent that many dream of but never achieve. Drums were his first love but then he met the trombone. I haven’t had the privilege of hearing him play (outside of a short FB clip), but something tells me that this talent and his drive to create music will take him where he wants to go. The trombone came in a beautiful case and when he put the pieces together to make it whole, it seemed more like a natural extension of him than anything. While the day’s weather had mostly been full of downpours and thunder, we lucked out when the skies cleared just in time for our session, allowing for some lovely light to shine on everything in front of my lens: Andrew, his creativity, and his trombone.

Andrew, it was so great to see you in your element and hear about your plans for the future. Wishing you a successful final year in high school!

Senior session (Isabella) – Lexington, MA

What can I say about this beauty and her adoring mother? It was heart-warming to witness the mother-daughter bond that exists between these two. Izzy is a high school senior and her mom wanted some senior portraits as well as some photos of the two of them together before she sets off for the big wide world next year. They were super cute together and her mom seemed to enjoy teasing her a little bit here and there. Not only is Izzy a gorgeous girl, but it was easy to tell that she’s got a good soul, too.

Izzy and Stacey – thank you so much for a lovely session. I so enjoyed meeting you both. Izzy, I hope your senior year continues to go well and that your college search is successful!

Senior Portraits (Nick) – Hampton, NH

Starting new classes, a new season of sports, getting all the school supplies you need, and gearing up for your last year of high school comes with an additional task and challenge: looking at colleges. Nick appears ready to take on all of the above with confidence and focus. He has his strong and steady parents at his side (literally and figuratively – check out Allison’s bio) as well as the support of his sisters (one of whom was at soccer during our session). While I realize it’s not standard to have photos of family mixed in with a senior session, upon reflection, it actually seems very fitting.

I’ve known Nick since he was a curly-haired toddler (yes, I’m dating myself again) so it’s bewildering to see him towering over his mom and trying to match his dad’s height. Nick, I wish you all the best as you navigate your way through this last year of high school and into your college years! Allison and Matt, so good to see you (and good luck to you as you send off your first!).
