Extended family session (Ita & her family) – Saugus, MA

Summer vacation is a time for lots of fun things but one of the best parts is being able to visit with family, especially when family lives far away. Emily and Julianne, who live here with their daughter, were hosting Emily’s mom from Florida as well as her brother and his family from Alabama for Independence Day weekend. As a way to celebrate their mom’s milestone birthday, they wanted to gather for some family photos while they were all together! Ita, as her grandchildren call her, seemed to be beaming having all of her family together in one spot. While we certainly did some more formal portraits, we also had some fun with bubbles and a few people tried on the littlest ones’ fairy wings! Ita, Emily, Julianne, Angel, Kim, and kids – thanks so much for having me! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend together.

Baby session (Jen, Alok, & E) – Newbury, MA

What a precious *little* one! At 3-months old, she is just about the same size as my youngest one when she was born. Sweet E joins a family full of love – from her parents to her extended family on both sides – she is one lucky girl (I know this because Jen and Alok are friends of the family.). She got lots of kisses from her mom and dad, as well as the family dog. She seemed totally at ease during our whole session, testing out her emerging neck strength, feeling the grass with her toes, and topping it off with a super-quick-bounce-to-sleep for a little snooze (my little ones would need 45 minutes of bouncing to fall asleep!).

Thanks so much, Jen and Alok, for the privilege of photographing the newest member of the family. Can’t wait to see more of her in the coming year.

One last side note: be sure to check out Alok’s hilarious shirt. Love it.

Newborn portrait session (Tracy, Dean, A, D, & L) – Charlestown, MA

Cupcake, the family’s beloved bulldog, “greets” me every time I come to their house with a resounding hello combined with protective overtones. These days, she has a lot more to be protective of with baby L on the scene. Baby L joins one of the sweetest families I’ve had the pleasure of photographing over the years. The oldest of three, A was one of my first newborns to photograph almost five years ago. Then came D with some of the longest eyelashes I’ve ever seen. And now sweet little L joins the team, helping to even out the score a bit for lovely Tracy. This little girl will get her fill of blocks, trains, and rough-housing with these two as big brothers. And more than her share of love, of course. Biggest brother couldn’t get enough of her while D is still trying to understand his new role and is making sure he gets his share of attention, as well (don’t worry, I’m a middle child, too, and it’s awesome!).

Dean and Tracy, I couldn’t be happier for you all. Isn’t it amazing how big our hearts can grow? So many hugs to you!

Newborn session (Inga, Jeff, N, & L) – Salem, MA

He kept his eyes closed for 95% of the session: he slept through some family portraits, slept through his big brother holding his little head, slept as he ate, and even kept his eyes closed as he cried. Just as I was starting to pack up, he peeked through to say hello to his sweet family. It was the first time his grandmother saw his eyes, still a little bloodshot from when he entered the world a mere 4 days before. What a little love bug! Welcome to the world, baby L. You look so much like your older brother did when he was born! Big brother seemed to love touching your sweet head. Can’t say I blame him.

Thank you, Jeff and Inga, for the chance to photograph your growing family! Wishing you countless snuggles, some sleep, and lots of joy.

Documentary morning session (Jess, Russ, B, & C) – Newton, MA

Wafts of bacon filled the kitchen as the boys gathered at the table, clearly excited for their homemade waffles – or rather, the maple syrup that covered said waffles. C actually proved that he didn’t need the catalyst for the syrup at all; he just lapped it up off the plate enjoying every last drop! Big brother B gave me a lesson in the alternative way to tie shoes (the two-bunny-ears approach) before we all headed outside to enjoy the nice weather. Their morning continued with some family portraits in the back yard, with a random sword fight or two here and there for good measure. B showed off some expert stone-skipping at the nearby lake while C did some exploring, ever excited to find a plastic worm left over by a fisherman. The morning was capped off with a bubble-blowing session with mom and B.

Jess and Russ – thank you so much for allowing your morning to unfold before me. I love your boys’ sense of adventure!
